Whitney Arreche

(she/her)

Whitney is a Presbyterian Church (USA) minister who has pastored in Belfast, Northern Ireland and in rural North Carolina. She is a Doctor of Theology Candidate at Duke University, analyzing how the word reconciliation has been used in U.S. Christianity to coerce consent, silence dissent, and further the capitalizing projects of whiteness. She serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations, and on the Faith and Order (Theology) Convening Table of the National Council of Churches. Whitney sees Liberating Church as a catalyst for reckoning and truth telling: calling out modern-day plantation churches, and bearing witness to a decolonial Christianity unbeholden to white supremacy. She has written for The Christian Century and Political Theology Network. She lives in Texas.
